The Kursaal Theater hosted last night the grand cruise party with the celebration of the 2025 Cruise Excellence Awards gala, where top executives from cruise companies gathered alongside authorities, tour operators, consignees, ports, travel agents, professionals, entrepreneurs, and suppliers from Melilla and the mainland Spain.
During an entertaining gala directed and presented by the entertainer and comedian Mr. Corrales, guests arriving from various parts of the mainland Spain and abroad were treated to an innovative show by the Creative Studio Girasomnis, who showcased advanced visual effects that came to life to the rhythm of drums and movements of a LED stick.
One by one, the award recipients took to the stage to collect their honors, with the following list of awards:
- Best Spanish Port – Port of Barcelona
- Best Family Cruise Line – MSC Cruises
- Best Premium Cruise Line – Virgin Voyages
- Best Luxury Cruise Line – Silversea Cruises
- Best Entertainment – Royal Caribbean International
- Best Value for Money – MSC Cruises
- Best Ship in the Mediterranean – Sun Princess (Princess Cruises)
- Best Ship in Northern Europe – Celebrity Apex (Celebrity Cruises)
- Best Brand Image among consumers – MSC Cruises
- Best River Cruise Company – Croisieurope
- Best First-Time Cruiser Line – Costa Cruises
- Best Gastronomy – Oceania Cruises
- Best Itinerary – Norwegian Cruise Line
- Best Exotic Itinerary – Regent Seven Seas
- Best Brand Recognition among travel agencies – Royal Caribbean International
- Best Expedition Cruise Line – Silversea Cruises
- Best World Cruise – Oceania Cruises
During the event, special recognitions were also awarded:
- Explora Journeys – for its innovation in ship design.
- Ponant – for its sustainability and zero-emissions ship project.
- Virgin Voyages – for inclusion and commitment with the LGBTQ+ community.
- Crystal Cruises – for its return to the market with the highest luxury standards.
Melilla Tourism also took the opportunity to present awards to Africa Travel, the Central Zone Association, and the Port Authority of Melilla.
The Cruise Excellence Awards, whose first edition was held in 2008 in Barcelona, result from a macro-survey conducted with cruise passengers and national travel agents, and they are a brand of CruisesNews Media Group, organizer of the International Cruise Summit in Madrid and publisher of the magazine CruisesNews.
This eighteenth edition of the Cruise Excellence Awards has been promoted and sponsored by the City of Melilla, Melilla Tourism, the Port Authority of Melilla, and in collaboration with other public and private organizations such as Ports of the State and Lantimar Group.
