Palma de Majorca received last February 19 in the Baluard Museum, the eighth edition of cruise Excellence awards.
The event was attended by about 200 professionals from the cruise industry, important personalities from politics and business related to the tourism sector. The Excellence Awards, are organised by Cruises News Media Group, a company specialized in marketing, communications and national and international promotion of the cruise industry. The cruise Excellence Awards in its eight edition recognizes the protagonists of this industry in 12 different categories. The winners are the result of a wide survey to cruise travelers which began on last October. The event has the support of Medcruise and sponsored by Ports de Balears and Palma 365 Foundation plus Delivery Warehouse, Logitravel, Travel Kontiki, Perlart and the partnership Cruises in the Atlantic Islands.
The President of the Balearic Islands Port Authority, Alberto Pons, welcomed the guests. Emiliano Gonzalez, CEO of MSC Cruises received the award for «Best ship in the Mediterranean» by the MSC Preziosa. The Port Authority of Barcelona picked up the Excellence Award «Best Spanish port» by the hands of the President of the Spanish Ports, José Llorca who attended again to the ceremony.
Big winners
Pullmantur received the award for «Best Crew» and «Best Popular Company» while Costa Cruises won «Best Brand recognition from Travel Agents» and «Best image and Marketing».

Tomas Fernandez, Commercial Manager of CroisiEurope got the Excellence Award for «Best River Cruise Line » and the Excellence Award » Best Mediterranean Port & Destination » was to Venice.
Agustín Quesada, General Manager of Mundomar Cruceros collected the award for «Best Premium Cruise Line» won by Princess Cruises.
Royal Caribbean won the “Best Entertainment on board «. The Excellence» Best price value” was to Norwegian Cruise Line and “Best de-luxe Cruise Line” Silversea.
Special recognition
The Port Authority of Balearic recognized the work of the Commission of shipping agents of APEAM for their valuable contribution to the development of cruise business in the port of Palma.
As each edition Cruises News gave their recognition plaques. The media company rewarded MSC Cruises and Royal Caribbean for their commitment to the Spanish market and the Mediterranean. MSC cruises for being the shipping company who set more ships in Spain and also Royal Caribbean for bring the two largest ships in the world. Finally Virginia Lopez, Managing Director of Cruises News Media Group, presented a plaque of appreciation to the President of the Spanish Ports José Llorca Ortega for their support and contribution to the development of the cruise industry in Spain.
