The Madrid City Council has formally recognised Virginia López Valiente, CEO of Cruises News Media Group as an “ambassador” of Madrid at the Recognition Night of the Madrid Convention Bureau

The councillor responsible for Tourism, Almudena Maíllo, participated this Thursday in the 13th edition of the Recognition Night. This annual event, promoted by the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB) within the framework of its Ambassadors Program, is a recognition of all those protagonists who, through the devotion to their work, promote the image of the capital in the field of congresses.

The Madrid City Council has formally recognised Virginia López Valiente, CEO of Cruises News Media Group as an “ambassador” of Madrid at the Recognition Night of the Madrid Convention Bureau

The tribute ceremony took place in the “Cecilio Rodríguez Gardens” with a new format, with all the hygienic-sanitary and prevention protocols recommended by the authorities, such as reduced capacity and the use of masks, among others. This new appointment, which usually takes place around the month of July, shows that Madrid is a destination capable of organizing safe events, transmitting confidence to potential prescribers of the capital.

In this edition, the work of Virginia López Valiente, CEO of Cruises News Media Group, has been recognized for the execution of the tenth edition of the International Cruise Summit. Every edition of this congress has been held in Madrid; this year’s taking place on December 1 and 2 at the Meliá Castilla hotel in a new hybrid format, with both face-to-face and online participation.

“I cannot feel more honoured to receive recognition like this from my city, but doubly honoured because it has always been my ambition to present a cruise industry  event in Madrid and it was precisely the Madrid Convention Bureau who understood this from the very first moment. This year has been hard, planning against a background of uncertainty and going ahead with a hybrid event, with all the necessary technological deployment which that entails. However, the cruise sector, one of the most damaged and less understood in this global crisis, needed this visibility and this effort «

Madrid has awarded the MICE sector for its resilience and solidarity demonstrated during the pandemic and the health sector for its dedication and the fundamental role it has played and continues to play in protecting the health and life of us all.

The Ambassadors Program promoted by the Tourism Delegate Area of the Madrid City Council through the Madrid Convention Bureau aims to help those responsible for organizing a congress in Madrid. A collaboration that begins long before the event begins and continues until after its conclusion, including new perspectives such as sustainability or the generation of positive impact.

The International Cruise Summit continues to gain praise following its latest edition, held in a hybrid format in the auditorium of the Melia Castilla hotel, which brought together cruise industry professionals from all around the world and the CEOs and presidents of the world’s leading cruise companies.
